My Younger Brother is a Hero Chapter 101

101.

“I hate it when Hyung puts others before me. You said you would stay by my side. That nothing could separate us.”

Seon-woo had been so weak and incompetent as a child. Because he had often been sick, he hadn’t been able to earn money or study properly. But he wasn’t even good at housework. So he became anxious at times.

He was afraid that his Hyung would abandon his useless self. Even though he knew his Hyung wouldn’t do that, his anxiety didn’t go away. The adults around him abandoned him, except for Hyeon-woo. Hyung was suffering because he was weak and unable to do anything.

When he was like that, he tried to die. After his Hyung was said to have passed away, he started trying to live. Because he knew he would come back one day and keep his promise. Seon-woo trusted Hyeon-woo like that.

“Hyung, would you?”

Seon-woo took Hyeon-woo’s hand and brought it to his cheek. His cheeks felt hot as if he had a fever.

“Seon-woo? Are you okay?”

Flustered, Hyeon-woo put his hand on his forehead.

“You have a fever!”

“I’m fine.”

He had been through a lot more painful things than this. The place where his only reliable guardian disappeared was cold and scary. However, because he trusted him, he persevered till the end.

It was so that Hyung would not abandon him. The idea was natural to him.

“Answer me, Hyung. Would you?”

“Seon-woo-ya.”

Hyeon-woo gently bit his lip. It was something he did when he was troubled. Normally, Seon-woo would have told him not to bite his lip because it would hurt, but he didn’t stop his Hyung now. Hyeon-woo had to choose him. A little suffering of his Hyung was a means to that end.

“Hyung.”

Seon-woo held Hyeon-woo’s hand on his forehead and rubbed his cheek against it. He acted like a baby, just like he did when he was a child.

Hyeon-woo’s mouth moved a few times.

“I…”

Hyeon-woo, whose expression was distorted as if in agony, continued.

“How could I abandon you?”

“Hyung.”

He won. In the end, the most important person to his brother was himself, with whom Hyeon-woo shared blood.

“I promise. You’re my number one priority, like you always have been. But Seon-woo…”

“Unn.”

“As for me. I like Dojin too.”

“No. That’s just an illusion.”

Sharing dangerous and exciting experiences had given him the illusion of love. Seon-woo thought his Hyung’s feelings to be akin to the swinging bridge effect. This is what he explained in detail to his Hyung.

“No. Was this the only time my life has been in peril? I almost died when I was in the Demon Realm.”

There was a time when Hyeon-woo desperately endured the days when he couldn’t eat properly and couldn’t sleep. But even under such circumstances, Hyeon-woo had not fallen in love with anyone. Even as he leaned against Han Ye-won, he did not become infatuated with her.

He didn’t want Seon-woo to know about his painful moments. So he had kept his mouth shut and hid his strength. Even with his power revealed, Hyeon-woo kept memories buried deep inside.

Horrible memories that sometimes emerged as nightmares. It felt like now was the time to divulge some of those memories.

“Hyung, I know you must have suffered. But will you choose Han Do-jin over me? You can’t.”

“Seon-woo-ya.”

“Don’t try to convince me. Just understand.”

Seon-woo’s cheeks began to get wet. Persuasion seemed remote. He wanted to give up, but he didn’t know how to open his brother’s closed heart.

“For now, let’s talk about this again later. Your fever is too high. Let’s go to the hospital.”

“Okay.”

Seon-woo nodded with a dissatisfied face and gently closed his eyes.

“Do Ga-jun!”

When he called out, Ga-jun only stuck his head out and looked inside.

“Stop smoking. Do you know how to drive?”

“Of course I know how to.”

“Then let’s go to the nearest hospital.”

Saying that, he hugged Seon-woo, but Do-jin, who had been watching silently, started talking to him.

“We are a bit out of town, so it will take a long time to get there. It’ll be faster to call a helicopter than that, so wait a bit.”

Do-jin picked up his cell phone, which had survived the battle safely, and contacted someone. He must have overheard all the conversation just now, but his behavior was not different from usual.

“Sorry.”

Hyeon-woo apologized to Do-jin.

“Don’t apologize. Isn’t it true that there are hardships in love? I expected my brother-in-law to interfere.”

And then he laughed a little. It seemed to calm his mind for some reason.

“For now, let’s just think about treating my little brother properly.”

“Unn.”

The helicopter called by Do-jin arrived not long after.

“Wait, you called a helicopter?”

“We need to quickly get to the hospital.”

“Why?”

Instead of the impatient Hyeon-woo, Do-jin answered Ga-jun.

“His fever is too high.”

“Is it a side effect of rampage?”

“Isn’t it because of sedatives?”

“You know what happens to a S-class Awakened with that amount of sedatives. He woke up so quickly.”

Even monsters wouldn’t be able to wake up so quickly.

“Guild Leader!”

The person who jumped out of the helicopter was Park Hyeon-hee, the Deputy Guild Leader of the Peace Guild, whom he had seen several times.

“The medical team is ready. All you have to do is go there. But who the hell is sick?”

“Umm. The Guild Leader of the Seon-Hyeon Guild?”

Hyeon-hee’s eyes widened at Do-jin’s words.

“What? What do you mean?”

The Seon-Hyeon Guild was the number one guild in Korea. Calling a helicopter and preparing excellent medical staff might have been easier if they did it. But why bother calling it himself? She didn’t understand.

“For now, think of it as scoring points.”

“Scoring points?”

She didn’t know what the misunderstanding was, but Park Hyeon-hee’s expression hardened seriously.

“Then I’ll do my best to execute the command!”

“Please.”

“Yes! Let’s move quickly.”

Do-jin got on first and took Seon-woo from Hyeon-woo’s arms.

Even in the midst of grumbling, he must have noticed that he wasn’t in his Hyung’s arms, so his expression turned grim. However, Do-jin didn’t care and put Seon-woo on the helicopter. After that, the seats were full.

“Wait, me too!”

Ga-jun noticed him and raised his voice but Do-jin neatly ignored him.

“Don’t you know how to drive?”

“I know how to drive. But you, you! No way!”

“Then, please clean up. See you later.”

With those words, the helicopter door closed.

“Hey, hey!”

Ga-jun jumped up and down in anger, but it was hard to hear over the sound of the propellers turning.

“Can I go too?”

“Sure.”

Hyeon-woo had been a little worried about the angel, but it didn’t seem like Ga-jun would abandon her. He would probably bring her with him.

Maybe she would try to monopolize him, but he didn’t worry too much about that either. As long as the liver wasn’t out of the boat, there was no point in doing nonsense. Because he already knew the power of this side.

The helicopter took off with a loud propeller sound. The helicopter flew through the black night sky and landed at a fairly large hospital with a helipad. Due to its size, doctors, and healers for the Awakened were also waiting.

“Gasp!”

The healer, who was said to be a B-class Awakened, looked surprised after recognizing Seon-woo. They quickly composed themselves and began to faithfully fulfill their original role. Several doctors administered tests.

“Fortunately, we aren’t detecting any major problems. It’s just a fever.”

“What could be the cause?”

“It doesn’t seem to be an infection, and since no other cause is seen, it’s probably stress.”

Hearing that, Hyeon-woo’s expression hardened. It was because he often saw on morning broadcasts that if they didn’t know the cause of one’s illness, they would mention stress as the cause.

For such Hyeon-woo, Do-jin added a word.

“This may be at a hospital on the outskirts, but he’s a well-known doctor in this field.”

Only then did Hyeon-woo’s expression return to normal.

“I think stress is the real cause.”

Considering Seon-woo’s obsession with his Hyung, it didn’t seem impossible.

“Well, even after returning from America, he hasn’t been able to rest.”

“That’s right.”

In the past, Seon-woo also traveled frequently. That was why it didn’t seem like the cause, but he didn’t bother exposing it. First of all, he had to soothe Hyeon-woo, who was worried about his younger brother.

“I think you’re overwhelmed too. Why don’t you take a break?”

“How could I?”

“If you wake up and your complexion is bad, wouldn’t your younger brother be more anxious?”

“Is my complexion that bad?”

Hyeon-woo groped his face with his hand.

“Unn. So let’s take a little break. I’ll look after Seon-woo.”

“Won’t Seon-woo hate that more?”

“Then when Seon-woo wakes up, I’ll wake you up too.”

“Unn.”

Do-jin laid Hyeon-woo down on the sofa and covered him with a blanket. Maybe it was because it was a VIP room sofa, it was exceptionally soft. Turning off the lights there made it a perfect place to sleep.

‘I can’t sleep.’

Hyeon-woo rummaged around several times before getting up from his seat.

“Why?”

“Because I can’t sleep. I’ll just stay by Seon-woo’s side.”

Hyeon-woo got up and sat down on the chair next to Seon-woo’s bed. Then he squeezed Seon-woo’s hand, which was exposed from the blanket.

“What was Ji Seon-woo like during his childhood?”

 Do-jin asked a question to Hyeon-woo.

“He was small, delicate, and cute. Even now.”

No, he was not cute at all. Do-jin smiled with an ambiguous expression. Seon-woo was on the extreme side of brocom, but Hyeon-woo was hardly any better. He couldn’t believe he described him as small, soft, and cute.

‘I wonder if I would think that of Ye-won.’

Because that child was really small, delicate, and cute. She was not comparable to Seon-woo. Do-jin thought so inwardly, not knowing that he was also a siscom.

“So I thought I would protect him. I couldn’t do that because I was taken to the Demon Realm.”

“You’re back though.”

“Yeah. I came back eventually.”

Hyeon-woo smiled faintly in the darkness. The two of them had a quiet conversation next to the sleeping Seon-woo. Half of the conversation was his bragging about his younger brother, and the other half was nonsense. Still, the conversation was strangely enjoyable.
